Q & A: Bruising your triceps in Crow pose?

Q: When I do crow pose I get bruises on my triceps- why is that happening?

A: First off - congrats on taking flight!
Bakasana (Crow pose) is one of my personal favorite poses and once you have it mastered in your body you can have a lot of fun transitioning in and out of crow pose during your vinyasa flow.

As for the bruises…you are probably putting too much weight into the knees. Instead be sure to engage the core (mula bandha and uddiyana bandha) and shift the weight slightly forward into your hands. Be sure to take your gaze forward about 12 inches above your hands as well.
Keep playing around with the pose, the more you practice the easier the pose becomes and the awareness in your body becomes easier to feel.
